ALLISON McCAFFREY FOR VICE PRESIDENT - ATA PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
We are better together!
I firmly believe in the power of collective action, mutual support, and a shared purpose. I am a proud Alberta teacher, and know, that when we unite as one voice—advocating for smaller class sizes, increased supports for our complex classrooms, a reasonable funding formula that benefits all schools regardless of their urban or rural designation - we become an unstoppable force for positive change. We refuse to allow the fickleness of our government to undermine our profession and the quality of education for Alberta’s children.
Collaboration as a Cornerstone
With many years of experience as the local president of Calgary Catholic, I have successfully shepherded and steered our local through times of challenge and growth. My financial background, grounded in my degree and years of business practice, has allowed me to approach my education advocacy with practical insights and a balanced but determined perspective. With over 20 years in education, both in the classroom and as an Admin, coupled with my years of serving our association, I am confident that the breadth and depth of my experiences at both the local and provincial level uniquely position me to serve our members across the province effectively, and with dedication, in the role of Vice- President.
Empowering and Representing All Members
I believe that all members deserve access to their elected representatives. Breaking down barriers and ensuring accessibility, accountability and transparency is essential. Your Provincial Executive Council (PEC) exists to serve you, and it must reflect the diversity and voices of teachers in every community across the province. Together, we must ensure that every perspective is heard and valued at the decision-making table.
Advocating for the Best Profession in the World
As teachers, we have the privilege and responsibility of shaping the future for the students we serve. We must advocate for, and support our profession with pride and determination. To do this will require an empowered and engaged membership. The government has made it clear, that without a fight, they will refuse to provide better classroom conditions, increased pay, adequate EA support for our students, or respect for our profession. Therefore, we must stand both strong and united in the face of this challenge. I am confident, though, that together we will prevail because our students are worth it, and WE are worth it.
Together we make a difference - together we can achieve great things. We ARE better together!
I am proud to be a member of the best profession in the world and look forward to dedicating my passion towards serving you, as one of your next Vice Presidents. Vote on March 10-13th, 2025 for Allison!
